Meet Sensei Matt Federico

Here is my story

Growing up, I always loved teaching. I would teach anyone anything because it had always been my passion. At fifteen years old, I was stocking bottles in the freezer of a bagel store. It was then that my martial arts instructor - Shihan John Busto - asked me to start learning how to teach martial art classes. At that time, I never knew that something that I enjoyed so much could eventually turn into a career. I didn’t know it would become my life, and so much more.

In 2012, I wanted to take my dreams to the next level. With the help of Shihan John, I opened Busto’s Martial Arts of Holbrook. I knew I loved teaching, but I wasn't prepared for the impact teaching martial arts would have, not just on my life, but on the lives of all the people who would walk through my doors one day.

To put it simply, we change people’s lives. Martial arts is so much more then punches and kicks. The studio isn’t just a place, but a living breathing part of your life once you enter it. It embraces you, teaches you, humbles you, loves you, and lastly, shapes you into the person you want to be. There is not one thing I would change in my life because I do what I love each and every day. The people who are a part of my life are not just students and parents, but key pieces to the Busto’s of Holbrook family.

I hope to see you join us one day.

Sincerely,

Sensei Matt
